Our family has visited 3 times (going again this summer) and have wonderful experiences each time. We have had the opportunity to see the local community grow and become more self sufficient. The day to day operations of Lantern Hill are now handled by the residents of the community while the founders, Abby and JJ, help with fundraising and the building of partnerships with groups in the US. Lantern Hill truly uses the Accompaniment Model of those who serve walking together with the residents of Canon Buenavista, Baja California, Mexico.

Hi this is Abby, co founder and current director of LH. It's funny how words and opinions from years ago can make such an impact today. I was just reminded of this bad review and wanted to clarify with love. This person has since sent an email to apologize. The reality is this person never saw our ministry in action. We were both missionaries and tried to care for people in the same area. We ended up being run out of that area because it was too much conflict to try to "help" on what they considered their territory. Ironically, i agree with many of the things she says in this about short term mission trips. While we still accept short term groups, we do believe in having a long term presence to see change in the community. This is why we have a full time mexican staff at our educational center and feeding program. And we believe in partnership with churches and people who continue relationships for years to come. Please contact us with any concerns, We'd love to talk about how we can love the world together! [email protected]
