Overview

Overview

Encountering sea turtles is an amazing experience. Turtles survived the glacial era, yet may not survive today unless we help them to nest in safety. Together with other volunteers and local guides you will make a difference for turtles, their habitat and local communities. This project employs guides from nearby villages and promotes turtle conservation awareness in local schools. Carriacou is a 13sq. mile tropical island, in the Grenadines archipelago (southern Caribbean). You will be hosted at Kido Ecological Station, 3 miles off the main nesting beach of High North Nature Park. Volunteer teams patrol the beach nightly.
Kido also rescues sea turtles caught in fishers̢۪ nets: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=CjtSL9nXN7Y
