Overview
Up Close bolivia is a family run community based volunteer programme that works alongide our local community in the beautiful semi rural villages of Mallasa and Jupapina, just 40 minutes away from the city centre of La Paz, but a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city, surrounded by the beautiful red mountains. Volunteers can work in a variety of social community based projects and with local organisations such as the school, local tourism providers and the zoo to support the rights of the most marginalised grousp, especially children and indigneous women through support to the local children’s centre, after school clubs, english teaching, tourism support and to enhance the environment through art work (murals) and educational campaigns.

Making friends at the Valley of the Moon Childrens Centre where volunteers provide practical and educational support to the local indigneous women that run this sustainable commmunity initiative.
Enjoy the views from the terraza of our beautiful volunteer accommodation whihc is in the grounds of our family home. Make the most of the hammocks, bbq areas and the fresh mountain air and sunshine.
Our volunteers are loved and appreciated by the community in which they live and work, making lifelong friendships.
We provide suport to to boys and girls a local football school training in football skills and also values such a gender equity and respect.
Working in the kitchen which serves up 3 nutritious meals for 80 vulnerable children every day at the Valley of the Moon Children's Centre

Our murals are contagious and are spreading across the villages where we love and work. All the volunteers come togther with neighbours and local organisations and schools to paint together.

Emma, Justa & Rolando are all simply wonderful. They welcomed our group of 7 art therapy students and 1 art therapist with open arms and provided the support we needed to accomplish the goals we had for ourselves, as well as those they had for us. They were incredibly helpful in orchestrating travel plans to and from the airport, and helped us to experience the culture of Bolivia by contacting tour companies for our excursions. I cannot say enough great things about Up Close!
