Overview
Based in Guatemala, Casa de Sion is part of Safe Homes for Children, a non-profit organization started by a single family. Since 2003, we have been working to make children’s lives safer through nutrition, education and medical care.
We serve several poverty stricken, fourth-world, Mayan communities in the highlands region around Lake Atitlan. Along with several programs, we run an orphanage for abandoned and abused children. Volunteers can be part of several different initiatives and are offered the opportunity to “design” their own vacation with us. Medical teams can work in our clinic and in the mountain communities. Student groups, mission teams and families can be part of the tutoring and feeding programs or can work at the orphanage.
