This program is simply a must for people who want an intimate learning experience about wartime Poland, and the history of the culture there pre/post WWII. Our site coordinator, Anna, made the experience seamless; everything ran smoothly under her watch. This project is heavier on the learning versus hands on volunteering, but I understood that going into it. The lodging was as I anticipated it to be, and meals were uniformly better than expected. I am thrilled we participated in this, and I feel like the program exceeded my expectations.

I have served with Amizade three times. I have traveled to their sites in Ghana, Jamaica, and Bolivia. Amizade's trips are unlike the other study abraod trips I have done. Not only do you get to help others, get class credit (if you're a student) and gain great experience, but you also learn far more about the culture than on other trips because you spend the vast majority if your time around local people.

I would recommend Amizade for anyone who wants to travel abroad and learn a little about what it's like to actually live in those countries instead of simply seeing the sights and getting a tan. (Don't worry, you get to do that too!)

Amizade also provided me with a lot of experiences I wouldn't have had otherwise. I have genuine friends all across the globe that I cannot wait to return and visit with one day. I also participated in many once-in-a-lifetime events like cliff jumping in Jamaica, drinking from the fountain of youth in Bolivia, and having a New Year's celebration on the beach with bonfires, fireworks, and a great band in Ghana.

I would highly recommend going on an Amizade trip if you ever have the opportunity to do so, each trip I went on changed my life in more ways than one and i know it will be the same way for you.

I went abroad with Amizade in the summer of 2009 to Cochabamba, Bolivia. I really enjoyed the program because it was a good mix of study and a service project.

All the US-based staff were great to deal with and helpful and the in-country staff also did an excellent job helping us to feel comfortable and safe. Having class everyday under a banana tree with an engaged, knowledgable professor was awesome!

I would highly recommend Amizade!
