ATMA SEVA is sanskrit for ‘Selfless service for the soul’. Founded in 2000, the first nine years were focused on HIV prevention/education outreach programs in Northern Thailand. Over 20,000 people were reached.
In 2009, ATMA SEVA changed directions and currently we run educational cultural tours, place volunteers to teach English, and are active with multiple community projects. Our core program in Northern Thailand is the ‘Wat Doi Saket project’. It is a cultural exchange program that places participant’s to live in Buddhist temples and teach conversational English to monks. We are working with eighteen Buddhist temples, three government schools (public schools), and one hill-tribe village school.
