Established in 1989, IVI is a non profit international volunteer organisation specialising in affordable & meaningful projects in over 15 countries worldwide.
With over 27 years experience, we have a huge range of projects catering to various needs, budgets and timeframes. Short term, long term, first time travelers, seasoned volunteers, families, mature age volunteers…. we’ve seen it all and have a project that is just right for you! With expert dedicated support and advice every step of the way.
As a non profit org, your fees paid are benefiting local communities, not shareholder pockets. We’re so proud of the work our volunteers have acheived over the years and continue to focus on building responsible volunteer abroad programs.

I volunteered to help look after some elephants on a sanctury . I’m 60 years old & was aware most volunteers would be much younger & I was right. The work was hard at times, especially with the heat, but the support & encouragement and advice I got was brilliant and I managed to complete my three weeks & do all jobs required. Hands on work with the elephants was fantastic. The local co-ordinating team were very helpful with all aspects. Accommodation & food was adequate and clean. Food wasn’t always to my liking but that’s just personal taste.

First of all, I took the HOP HOP BUS to get from Lima to Cusco and it was the best thing to do! I traveled the south for 8 days and discovered wonderful places: Paracas, Huacachina, Nazca, Arequipa, Puno,...Cusco is much bigger than I thought. It's a great city full of colors, culture and folklore. People are very friendly. I was volunteering 400 meters higher than Cusco, and it was quite cold up there (3800 meters).I had a wonderful time with the lovely children. Rogelio, founder of the school, was such a nice man! Local team was very kind, available and helpful.The Spanish courses were a big '+'.Food was delicious: being vegetarian, I was so happy to have all these incredible vegetables and fruits in so many veggie restaurants. Accommodation was nice. It would have been much better to know where I was going to teach.... it was so cold and 'dirty' (building under construction). It was impossible to wear a dress or a skirt. My suitcase was not appropriate for teaching there.... But I survived
