Overview

Otra Cosa Network is a registered Peruvian non-profit NGO and Registered UK Charity that offers a wide variety of affordable and satisfying volunteering opportunities to well-motivated volunteers from around the world. Otra Cosa Network is based in Huanchaco, Trujillo on the coast of Northern Peru.

We offer our volunteers support from arrival to departure, but expect self-reliant volunteers to be capable of taking initiatives and managing their time themselves. We are dedicated to providing interesting, stimulating and rewarding placements to our volunteers, each of whom contribute something new to our many projects. Our ultimate objective is to support our wide range of projects with suitable volunteers to help them improve the quality of people’s lives in their local area.

I spent a month with Otra Cosa network in June 2012. The information and support before arriving in Peru wasn't great and I think they could do better at matching the volunteer's skills with the projects. However, arriving in Peru I was met with excellent support and was able to get on really help. The organisation was going through a period of change then and had some ambitious and exciting plans ahead. This organisation has lots of potential and if you are up for a challenge and are willing to really work then it's a excellent volunteering opportunity. Peru is beautiful, Huanchaco is stunning - I could have stayed a lot longer.

I volunteered with OCN in Huanchaco Peru for 6 weeks and had an amazing time! The city was beautiful, the volunteer work was better than I had imagined and I would absolutely recommend using OCN for your next trip to South America, especially if you're travelling with a budget!
